Owen Rundquist textural investigations into the landscape are directly informed by his well chosen titles. The above images are titled from top to bottom as follows No Place for Strangers, Dwelling Place, and Neglect. What I find most striking about these paintings is they function kind of like hand made invitations into something untouched by said hand. It is most telling in the final image Neglect that Rundquist uses foliage to almost set the neglected house visually on fire.

Trenchgrinder will be playing in Mexico City over Valentine’s weekend, February 2014 for the first annual Acheron D-Fest. It’s an incredible line up of American and Mexican bands spanning the punk/metal genres. It’s going to be an amazing party.
More video from the Trenchgrinder performance with Eyehategod last Saturday at The Acheron in Brooklyn. These two songs are newer ones that have yet to be released. The first is Deterrence and Retribution the last in Peace is Forfeit which will appear on our split 7” with Skullshitter.
The Canopio family have been devastated by the recent hurricane in the Philippines. Being a person that is heavily involved in art and music, I have no money. I would however, very much like to help. So, I will make a limited hand numbered print that will be exclusively available to anyone that donates $20 or more to the Canopio family relief effort. The edition number will be dictated by the number of people that donate between today and December 20. The prints will be made and shipped once I return to New York in January 2014 after the holidays. Once you make your donation of $20 or more, please Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject ‘Canopio Relief’ and your Paypal transaction number and your name and address where you would like the print shipped. If you have any questions I can also be contacted through the same Email. Please keep in mind that these people need money now, the sooner you donate the better.
If you watched the video I just posted from the Eyehategod show you were watching my good friend Robert play drums. Robert is one of the most solid and good natured people I have met since moving to New York and I am lucky to know his brother Jesse and to have met his mother while she was visiting a few months back.
Robert has a large extended family in the Philippines whose lives have been devastated by the recent Hurricane. The two brothers have launched a relief effort that is accepting donations to help their family rebuild their lives and have also created a Tumblr page with images, video, and explanations of the situation. Please take a moment to watch the video.
Trenchgrinder will be playing with SyphilitcLust and Eyehategod this Saturday at The Acheron in Brooklyn. I am very excited to be playing this. If you missed out on the now sold out show at Saint Vitus Thursday, here’s your chance. Fliers by Kirsten Flaherty and Bill Dozer respectively.
I will be performing with Black Lodge on Halloween at The Nitehawk Theater in Williamsburg. We will be doing a live score to the original Phantom of the Opera. We had our first rehearsal tonight and I’m very excited about where it’s going. Participants will be Geoff Gersh, Clifton Hyde, Lev Weinstein (Krallice, Anicon), and myself. So, if you’d like to start your night off with some dark, atmospheric music and a classic horror film, come check it out.
I just finished this painting. It was started almost exactly a year ago. There have been a lot of road blocks, turmoil and changes over the course of the past 12 months and it feels good to resolve this after so long.
